Why Build Your Appraisal Career With Prestige?

Supportive Collaboration
Good work grows through shared knowledge. You can discuss research questions with colleagues, draw on different specialties and receive feedback through our internal report review process. In addition, monthly online gatherings give the team time to connect beyond individual projects.

Ongoing Education
Keep building the skills that brought you to this field. The P.R.E.S.T.I.G.E. program offers education reimbursement, training and support for career growth for qualifying appraisers. Eligible appraisers may also join the company trip to the ISA Assets Conference after meeting qualifying metrics.

Career Growth
Good appraisal work takes practice, feedback and a willingness to keep learning. Research and junior roles develop the habits needed for more complex work. Meanwhile, experienced appraisers contribute their specialties and help colleagues sharpen their skills. Tell us which areas you want to develop so we can discuss how your experience and goals fit the role.
Pay, Flexibility and Travel Opportunities
Your experience and qualifications shape your pay. Our appraisers are W-2 employees and receive pay every two weeks, including while longer projects are still in progress. Discuss the role, expected workload and pay with us during the hiring process.
Local Projects, Remote Work and Travel
Some assignments involve local client visits; others combine remote research and writing with travel. For eligible project travel, Prestige provides airfare, hotel, rental car or mileage, and meal and incidental allowances. Tell us which mix suits you.
Work With Art, Antiques and Collections

Every object offers a new question. A maker’s mark, an old photograph or an exhibition label can help tell its story. At Prestige, your curiosity becomes useful research for people making decisions about belongings they own, inherit, insure or donate.
Personal property appraiser careers offer variety. One project may involve a painting; another may cover a collection of antiques or the contents of a home. In each case, you help turn scattered records and market evidence into a clear picture for the client. Your work may support probate and estate tax decisions, insurance planning, charitable gifts or the fair division of belongings.

Personal Property Appraiser Jobs at Prestige
From your first research project to leading a complex appraisal, there is more than one way to contribute. Explore the four roles below to see where your experience fits and what you could develop next.
Research Assistant

Turn your curiosity about objects into useful research. As a Research Assistant, you help appraisers connect photographs, records and reliable sources. Your attention to detail makes their work easier to check and gives you a close view of how an appraisal comes together.
What You Will Do
- Organize photos, measurements, item lists and background records so each file connects to the correct object.
- Research makers, artists, materials and sales of similar items under an appraiser’s direction. Record the sources and dates so the findings can be checked.
- Draft factual item descriptions and research notes for review. Also flag missing details or conflicting records that need the appraiser’s attention.
- Keep project files in order and track assigned tasks. As questions arise, share them early so the appraiser can plan the next step.
What You Bring
Strong research habits, accurate data entry and clear writing are central to this role. In addition, experience with art, antiques, museum records, auction catalogs or item records can be useful. For example, cataloging objects or checking sources for a research project can help prepare you for this work.
Junior Appraiser

Build hands-on appraisal skills with guidance from experienced colleagues. As a Junior Appraiser, you help document property, study market evidence and prepare report sections for review. Along the way, you develop the object knowledge and judgment that shape a lasting career in personal property appraisals.
What You Will Do
- Assist with inspections and inventories, including photos, measurements and condition notes. Then organize those records for the project file.
- Research comparable property and discuss which sales are relevant. For example, differences in condition or materials may affect the comparison.
- Draft descriptions, research summaries and assigned report sections. Then use feedback to strengthen the reasoning and clarity of your work.
- Keep your supervising appraiser up to date on progress and any missing information. As your skills develop, take on work matched to your training and experience.
What You Bring
A background in personal property research, item records or related work will help you contribute. Relevant appraisal coursework is useful, along with a willingness to learn and apply the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). You should also be comfortable asking questions, meeting deadlines and revising your work after review.
Appraiser

Bring your expertise to personal property assignments with the support of an established firm. As an Appraiser, you guide clients through research, inspection and report delivery. You also have colleagues to consult as you build clear, well-supported conclusions in the specialties you know best.
Required Qualifications
You must hold an Accredited Member (AM) designation in personal property appraisal, such as ISA AM, or a comparable qualification accepted by Prestige.
If you hold a different credential, include its name and who awarded it so we can assess its fit for this role.
What You Will Do
- Confirm the property to include, the report’s purpose and the date the values apply. Then plan the evidence and research needed for the assignment.
- Examine and document belongings, or assess supplied records when remote work is appropriate. Check for gaps before you use those records.
- Study market evidence and explain your findings. Prepare clear reports in keeping with USPAP and the agreed assignment.
- Keep clients informed, organize files and respond to report review. If the work or schedule changes, raise it promptly so the firm can address the next steps.
What You Bring
Hands-on appraisal experience, training and clear report writing are important here. Describe your specialties, appraisal credentials and familiarity with USPAP. Also tell us how you plan research, keep clients informed and meet deadlines across your projects.
Senior Appraiser

Put your experience to work on complex assignments and help others grow. As a Senior Appraiser, you bring depth in your specialties, guide project decisions and mentor developing colleagues. Your influence extends beyond your own reports to the skills and confidence of the people around you.
Required Qualifications
You must meet at least one of the following requirements:
- An Accredited Member (AM) designation in personal property appraisal held for at least seven years.
- The ISA CAPP designation.
- Comparable qualifications in personal property appraisal accepted by Prestige.
If you apply based on AM status, include the date you earned it. For another qualification, explain your credentials and relevant experience so we can assess them.
What You Will Do
- Lead complex personal property projects in your specialties. For example, a project may involve a large collection, incomplete records or several property locations.
- Plan research and guide appraisers and research staff. When a specialist’s input is needed, help define the questions that person should address.
- Review assigned research and draft report sections within your expertise. Then explain your feedback so colleagues understand how to improve the work.
- Guide project decisions, communicate findings and mentor developing appraisers. Also help identify evidence gaps and resolve difficult research questions before delivery.
What You Bring
Bring a record of completing complex personal property appraisals and explaining your conclusions clearly. In addition, describe how you guide colleagues and help them improve their work. Include examples of the projects you have led and the duties you held.
